Waarom wij Starlight Jewels heten

Deze vraag is ons wel eens gesteld. Hoe komen wij bij deze sprankelende zeer geschikte naam. Het antwoord op deze vraag leidt naar heel ver terug, en wel zover dat we uitkomen bij de tijd dat Evelien nog maar 3 jaar was en ik 34. Nu alweer 22 jaar geleden. Al 22 jaar zijn wij allebei groot fan van Westlife, die Ierse boyband, nu ‘manband’, uit de jaren 90 tot op heden. Ja, tot op heden, Westlife is nog very much alive and kicking om het zo maar te zeggen. Ik runde toen een grote fansite en Evelien was als klein kind al een groot fan van hun muziek.
En op het moment van schrijven gaan wij over 2 weken richting Glasgow naar het Westlifeconcert, onderdeel van hun wereldtour. Wij vinden allebei het openingsnummer van het concert helemaal geweldig, hun single uit 2022, genaamd … Starlight. Dus, 1 + 1 = Starlight Jewels! Een ode aan .. en hoe toepasselijk.
